A four-day conference in the Liberian capital Monrovia on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security has brought together participants from Liberia, Timor-Leste and Ireland to share lessons and strengthen the resolve of all to take action at every level as the 10th anniversary of the Resolution approaches this year. The UN Deputy Special Representative for Recovery and Governance, Moustapha Soumaré, addressed the gathering on: “1325 – Women, Peace-making and Peace-building from a UN perspective”. The conference in Monrovia, which is a cross-learning process, is organized by the Liberian Ministry of Gender and Development and the Conflict Resolution Unit of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland. It is the third meeting after the first in Belfast, Northern Ireland and the second in Dili, Timor-Leste in 2009. DSRSG Moustapha Soumaré,s remarks at Conference
