The Government of Liberia, National Elections Commission (NEC) and Development Partners through the United Nations have formalized an agreement in support of the Liberian Electoral Cycle, 2010-2012. Planning & Economic Affairs Minister, NEC Chairman, and the Deputy Special Representative for Recovery and Governance, Moustapha Soumare, signed the Project Document spelling out the roadmap for the upcoming elections. DSRSG Soumare said the total estimated cost of the project is US$39.3 million out of which the Government of Liberia has committed US$12.1 million. The Government of Spain has already contributed US$750,000 and pledges so far by Development Partners amount to US$15.6 million. “I have every confidence that the balance in the budget will be successfully mobilized this year,” he said.
